When you’re working on a heritage-led regeneration project, the signage has to feel just as considered as the space itself.
For Leah’s Yard in Sheffield, we worked alongside Field Design to produce and install bespoke external shop signage and wayfinding that complemented the industrial, heritage-led feel of the venue.
Through careful testing, custom print finishes and considered installation, we helped bring Field Design’s creative vision to life with signage that felt like it belonged within the space.

Leah’s Yard is a distinctive Sheffield destination, bringing together independent shops, hospitality and creative businesses within a beautifully restored heritage setting.
For a space like this, standard signage would not have felt right. The signage needed to sit naturally within the venue, support the visitor experience and reflect the industrial character of the space.
Working with Field Design, our role was to produce and install signage that supported the wider creative direction, while giving each business clear, professional and considered external signage.
The brief was to create external shop signage and wayfinding that felt completely in keeping with Leah’s Yard.
The signage needed to:
The overall look and feel for the venue was led by Field Design. Our role was to help bring that creative direction to life through signage production, material testing, custom print finishes and installation.

One of the biggest challenges was getting the finish exactly right.
The stone-effect background and custom gold-effect detailing needed to work together and sit comfortably within the wider Leah’s Yard environment. The finish also needed to complement the hand-painted gold signage already used within the venue.
This meant carrying out testing to achieve the right balance of texture, colour, contrast and finish.
It was important that the signage did not feel too new, too flat or too disconnected from the space. Every detail needed to support the wider design scheme and help the signs feel like a natural part of the venue.

We produced and installed a range of bespoke signage for Leah’s Yard, including flat-to-wall ACM signs, swinging hanging signs and wayfinding signage.
The signs combined stone-effect backgrounds with custom gold-effect raised detailing, creating a finish that felt tactile, premium and sympathetic to the character of the venue.
The flat-to-wall ACM signage gave each shop a clear and professional presence, while the swinging hanging signs added to the traditional, heritage-inspired feel of the space.
We also produced wayfinding signage to help visitors navigate the venue and find the correct access points where needed.
The finished signage blended beautifully with the wider Leah’s Yard setting.
Rather than feeling like an add-on, the signs helped complete the space. They supported the industrial, heritage-led feel of the venue while giving each shop clear, considered and visually consistent signage.
This project is a great example of how bespoke print and signage can support regeneration projects, heritage spaces, hospitality venues, retail destinations and commercial interiors.
It also shows how we can work alongside designers, developers, venues and marketing teams to turn creative ideas into finished signage that works in the real world.

If you’re working on a regeneration, venue, retail or commercial interiors project, we’d love to help.
