In celebration of Chariots of Fire, a powerful production staged by Sheffield Theatres, we partnered once again with Field Design — this time working alongside Sheffield Theatres — to help transform Tudor Square into an immersive tribute to the city’s rich Olympic heritage.
The brief was to create a bold, visual takeover of Tudor Square, bringing the themes of the show to life while celebrating some of Sheffield’s most iconic Olympians. Field Design developed the creative concept and entrusted us to help bring it to life with a large-scale physical installation, spanning both the outdoor space and interior of the theatre.
The centrepiece was a striking running track-style vinyl graphic laid throughout Tudor Square — highlighting key local sporting figures and the city's longstanding impact on athletics. The scale and location of the installation required careful planning and coordination, particularly with ongoing construction work at the adjacent library and regular site traffic from delivery vehicles. Despite some challenges, including fresh vinyl being driven over mid-installation, our team remained on-site and hands-on to ensure everything was completed to the highest standard.
To complement the outdoor transformation, we also produced a series of large-scale hanging banners and decorative boards which were installed inside the venue, furthering the experience throughout the venue.
